My ÆRTHLING won’t scan. What should I do?
- Ensure your device is equipped with NFC scanning and turned on in your device settings.
- Select Scan from the Scanning sub-menu before scanning the FIG.
- Hold the FIG flat against your device’s NFC reader (location varies by phone).
- Remove thick or metal cases.
- Restart the app and try again.
My tablet doesn’t have a NFC reader. Can I still play?
The game is free-to-play and compatible on most smartphones and tablets, but you’ll need to scan FIGS in-game with a device that has an NFC reader. Scanning is required to unlock your ÆRTHLINGS FIGS in-game.
The scan worked, but it says this ÆRTHLING belongs to someone else. Why?
When an ÆRTHLINGS character is hatched either via first scan or through trade, that FIG is tied to the last player account that scanned the FIG. If the FIG you are scanning belongs to another player account, the two players must agree to exchange FIGS via a two-way, in-game trade.
The game says “Scan Failed” even though my device has NFC scanning capabilities
Double-check NFC is enabled on your device settings.
What is NFC?
NFC stands for “Near Field Communication” - it’s a way for two devices to talk to each other over radio frequency from a short distance away. ÆRTHLINGS have a specially encoded NFC Tag inside them. The NFC reader in your phone can wirelessly read to receive information about the ÆRTHLINGS FIG. All of the power for NFC communication comes from your phone, so ÆRTHLINGS FIGS don’t need any batteries or chargers!
